Licensing woes

tony_tero

Hi All,

We purchased a license for Circuit Studio at the beginning of January. Unfortunately, the license was issued to the person who purchased it, not the engineer who will be using it (me).

I've sent a few emails to software@element14.com with zero response. The purchasing person has also tried calling the support phone line with no luck.

Can anyone advise the best way to get this rectified?

Thanks...

I think my situation is more like this one: How to transfer a license to a new engineer The problem is that I haven't been able to get any response from Altium or Element14 about the license.

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all your answers. I ended up just using the incorrect email address to load the license. After a few days, there doesn't seem to be any downside to having done so. I will still…

Have you read this? How to transfer a license to a new computer

It explains the details better than I can.

    Thanks, Clem.

I had seen that, but I'm not sure that it is exactly my situation. I've never installed the license because the information associated with the license is incorrect. I'm trying to find out who to contact to correct the license info before I install it and potentially lock it into an incorrect email address.

    Hi Tony,

I don't use CircuitStudio, so I may have the wrong end of the stick, and maybe you've already tried this suggestion, but if you bought it in the UK, maybe it is possible to call the normal Farnell support line (which is responsive) and return the item, and then re-order, and then expense it? In other words, treat it like a return, and re-purchase on a different account, rather than deal as a licensing issue. Not ideal maybe, but perhaps it is a workaround unless someone comes up with a better solution.

I would add the following: once you have downloaded/installed/licensed it, email farnell for the *full* download link. This will be a file about 1.4GB in size, rather than the stub installer normally offered. At the same time, go into your account in CS, and download the .alf license file, so that future use can be done entirely without Altium/Farnell's involvement.

Unfortunately, you will need to repeat the email/download process for any future versions you obtain (although that seems an unlikely problem at present). The alf file should work though.

    Isn't it here>

Access to older versions of CircuitStudio

V1.5.2 should be there. This is in the right side of the web page for the discussions as recent documents.

    .

    .

    .

Nevermind; I guess this just has the installer setup files and not the off-line installer versions.

As far as I am aware, software@element14.com is currently not monitored. For support please go to your regional store's contact us page and Altium's support.
