Hi Marc, I hope you'll find the Raspberry Pi group here useful and a good place to converse with other makers and engineers. You might also want to post about one of your Raspberry Pi project on the blog in this group. There's currently a challenge going on where the winner will get a Samsung Galaxy tablet:

Hi Marc,
It must be tough being a lone enthusiast. But don't lose heart, I'm sure there are many in the Philippines but have just not managed to conenct
. While you pursue your passion, as Drew mentions, the group here would be a great place to exchange ideas.
Btw, I came across this site 'http://pinoytekkie.wordpress.com/?s=raspberry+pi'. Have you checked them out? Looks like there could be some like-minded folks there. And oh yes, we're sending out a call to conenct fb post to users int he Philippines too.
Best of luck!
Raj
Hello Raj,
Yes, it is very tough being a lone enthusiast in the Philippines, where I've experienced when I do something first, everyone tends to follow me. That's what happened with Linux hobby work over the past 6 years; I've influenced too many people.
My wordpress blog, in terms of Raspberry Pi had too few hits from Philippines. I've asked many electronics students from Don Bosco and other colleges, and none have heard of this gadget. I even shown them pictures from my Android phone.
My guess is, Raspberry Pi may not be a big hit in the Philippines, because of the Linux operating system. It seems everyone here would buy it if Microsoft Windows was pre-installed.
The XBMC is a good turn-on for Raspberry Pi in the Philippines, but is that all? I've tried and tried to draw interest, but people here aren't willing to wait weeks as they want it now. I paid PHP 3000 for mine and waited a week. Nearly all of the people I've talked to here about Raspberry Pi would rather spend 3,000 Pesos on other stuff (gadgets).
The link you gave me identifies the blogger is a "noobie", which may not be that helpful in my case. Thanks, anyways.
Marc
Hi Marc, Any luck finding/forming a group?
Hello! I almost forgot about this post; it's been a while since I wrote it. Well, Raspberry Pi is now being sold in Philippines, either through element14 distributor or at Alexan stores. My Raspberry Pi has gone to my 13 year old nephew. Have a nice day!
Just read your post.
I'm Larry Sevilla, from GenSan, Mindanao.
I got my Raspberry PI Model B from GadgetPinas, Pasig, MM last 2013/January when I was in MM for an official business trip.
I'm just an ethusiast on RPi. Tinkering...
99% of what I do is on Windows from XP to 8.1, Server 2003 to 2012.
Just scan accidentally to this post while gathering enough information about this stuff...
I'm Victor Petere from Siquijor, Visayas.
Actually, my keen interest to experience doing actual embedded programming came to light at Elements14 that was last year 2013 when I knew about development boards some are cheaper compared to what I think its expensive.
(dreaming since I graduated college - 1996)
I recieve my Raspberry PI last month ago.
I'm very excited to learn...
Vic
I may be new to the computer field but I want to learn about all this.
I am Jerico from Cebu.
I am just trying to learn this stuff and I am planning to go to school with this in mind.
I have no technical experience when it comes to hardware programming but I can probably learn that in the future.
Do you guys have tips on where to start?
Hi Guys.
It's great that the Raspberry Pi has brought you all to element14-- welcome! I've often wondered whether there were any topics in engineering that would be of particular interest to engineers in the PI. Prior to my joining element14, I did some work in Davao, and was blown away by both the number of electronic engineers I met, as well as their incredible expertise. If you'd like to see us cover any specific topics in engineering or technology, please let me know. We're always on the hunt for great content for our community.
Cheers,
Sagar
