Nicla Vision Using OpenMV - Quick test

I am just starting to work on a Nicla Vision project so I thought I would do some quick tests with OpenMV (sorry no videos - I'm not on the PC where I normally do that).

Basic streaming (FPS averages around 10). I may have a flaky USB connection because if I move the Nicla around while streaming - I'll get timeouts and hang the program).

Arduino boards supported. I was interested to see if the sensors on the Nicla Vision are supported.

Time-of-Flight sensor test.

TensorFlow Object Detection example (6 FPS average).

This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing :) I have never used OpenMV and I'm not sure if I have even seen a project using it (but I don't follow every blog perhaps its quite common)

That is really great to see that OpenMV actually works reasonably well on the nicla vision and there is lots of sample code.

I still don't know how I'd save the bees with the board yet though ... different problem...

Perhaps come up with some sort of 'citizen science' type design that enables others to get interested in monitoring bee activity in their neighbourhood.

Bird nesting boxes with webcams are quite popular, so you could perhaps do the same for the bees but with the ability to use OpenMV to produce data alongside the video / images. If the camera was able to face outside of the hive, then you could allow monitoring of the activity that happens there.

It's the type of project I could see STEM being interested in, but they might need a basic prototype design to get started with.
