I just received my Arty S7 board for the Challenge - thanks Randall and Sean .
I've only used a Spartan-6 once before, quite a few years ago on a Mojo V3 FPGA Development board. The specific part was a Spartan-6 XC6SLX9. It will be fun to try using the Spartan-7 with the Vitis tool. I've wanted to do more projects with the MicroBlaze processors, so this is a good opportunity.
I'm trying to decide which PMODs to get for the Challenge project. I've got a PMOD to Grove adapter from my PYNQ-Z2, so I can already connect a variety of sensors. I'm a little concerned because it appears that the Digilent Vivado-library only goes up to 2019.2. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to adapt to the more recent tool versions. I need to decide whether or not I need to create a specific VM for this project (creating VMs takes a bit of time). Using the latest tool versions is sometimes problematic with older hardware.
For now, I just ran a proof of life by running through the out-of-box demo.
Looking forward to the challenge and seeing all the other projects...
