Install File Editors and alternative File Explorer
Ubuntu comes with gedit, diff (command line) and Nautilus. We have had feedback from many users that GEANY, MELD, and THUNAR are preferred.

Open a terminal
$ sudo apt install --yes geany meld thunar
$ meld& geany & thunar&
Once the programs open, right click and add to the favorites menu
