The Challenge
For the chance to win one of the prizes above, Challengers were asked to design a prototype or test rig using Würth Elektronik’s SMD LEDs with Integrated WL-ICLED Controller. They had to share their build process and the final outcome of their Project, showcasing the features of WL-ICLED Controllers in the best and/or most imaginative ways possible.
Now, without further ado, we have our winners for the Light Up Your Life design challenge.
Grand Prize Winner
Gough Lui – A Better Microscope
Great job creating a macro photography ring light, taking advantage of the fact the Würth Elektronik LEDs are individually addressable to make an LED ring that can have segments selectively activated, rotated around its circumference, and changed in colour, all via remote control.
Runners-Up
We have added a second Runner Up position to create another opportunity to recognize the hard work of Challengers in this design challenge.
In no particular order
embeddedguy – RGB MATRIX
Well done creating your interactive RGB matrix, particularly using so many kinds of LEDs as an unsponsored Challenger.
arvindsa – AuraAlert
Nice work building your networked, wall-mounted devices that listen for important household sounds and translate them into visual alerts (as well as triggering a handheld vibrating, haptic module) for the hearing-impaired.
I know you will all join me in congratulating our winners – well done! If you have not yet checked out everyone’s final submissions, then go check them out. A big shout-out as well to all of our design challenge finishers!
