Sean and Connor from Raising Awesome have been looking for a project that would establish a full suite of PCB Eagle Design Blocks and IoT code for a multitude of platforms for future projects.  Then, Connor burned through all his lawn mowing money on an Oculus Rift.  Using it gave them an idea - what if instead of going into the game world, the game comes to our world!  So, they set out to build their most ambitious IoT build to date - the 4D IoT Game Engine.  .

I love this design approach. Use all opensource software, add a few bits of hardware and you have a basic system to set up just about any interactive environment. Well done. DAB

    Thanks, Shabaz.

As for the TV program, my dream would be to do an HGTV show where we go in and create assistive tech solutions throughout a home to help the elderly and impaired.  It would be one of those shows that would pull at the heart strings at the end.

But, I wouldn't even know where to begin "the pitch".  Oh well, better stick to my day job.

    See ya',

    Sean

    Hi Sean and Connor,

This was a fantastic project and video.

Thanks for sharing so much useful information. The end result looks like a lot of fun!

All the steps along the way were presented really well, providing enough information to allow people to explore further and create their own cool projects.

The one thing that makes me sad, is that seeing such high-quality content, despite Youtube being a great platform, I wish there were on-air TV programs as good as this.

    Thanks, DAB.

You are right - with the Unity game engine, you could make a 2D or 3D interface that can generate a build for just about anything - Xbox, PS4, iPhone, , Android, Windows, Linux, etc.  Using similar Web Socket code showcased, you can then control any wifi enabled mechanical gadget you make from anywhere on earth.

Learning all this makes the world seem simpler and simpler.  When dreaming up gizmos, I find it amazing how little there is left to make our lives even more convenient.  I think that autonomous lawnmower may be in my future after all.

    See ya',

    Sean
