The demo I've been showing here at ELC is using an Attic Lapdock. The only special hack required is a USB cable that doesn't short power sine the Lapdock sources power through a port that normally should…

Is it possible to get details about the next-gen beaglebone's CPU? WIll it be single core or multi-core? I've been hearing that it'll be more powerful than the one on the current BB but how much more power can one expect?

I'm surpised to see the AM3359 on the current beaglebones being replaced by the second-tier AM3358. I thought the new bones had an upgraded processor...

Me too. I was hoping that they'd use a 1GHz Sitara core like the AM3874 than practically the same model. It would still make a great deal at around $50US and maybe an OK deal at $60

Judging by the upgraded performance specs, is it safe to assume the new BeagleBone will consume more power than the old one? Can we get some rough numbers for active and idle power consumption for the whole board, or at least some info on whether or not battery power will be feasible for any extended period?

Check out the info on this page about the beaglebone. This information was temprarily on circuitco's website but was taken down. According to the info The new beaglebone will be revealed in the Upcoming Design West conference and should be available on April 23rd. Some cool specs too......Hopefully its correct info

I'd registered my interest for the new beaglebone months back... just got an email saying they're in stock.. From Newark. Not helpful when I'm in the UK.

I see the 'register' link now includes a country selection (which doesn't include the US ! ) that I don't recall being there when I registered. So how do we get hold of these outside the US? uk.farnell.com is showing 3rd May before they arrive. Price is looking very good compared with the R-Pi too
