Can you post a screenshot of what you see? I can't see lines in the pdf

you attached. Are you printing the pdf direct, or do you print direct

from Eagle to whatever device you got?

If you get white lines in the fill, it probably have to do with

precision and rouding effects. I've had issues with gerber files

outputted with too low (standard!) resolution causing a fill-line to

appear a tiny unit below the one above.

The Eagle fill does add some overlap and there have been discussions

earlier about increasing it, but not sure if anything happened (try

check the manual). In fact the overlap used to be too small for the

standard gerber res. It just got rounded off.

My workaround was always to output gerbers with 6 decimals, however, for

PDF I wouldn't know what to do. You could try the free "pdf creator"

printer driver and set higher dpi maybe.

Can you post a screenshot of what you see? I can't see lines in the pdf you attached.

Scroll up to post #4 and click on the graphics to expand them to full screen. Look at the black pad that is in the group. You can see it there.

Are you printing the pdf direct, or do you print direct from Eagle to whatever device you got?

I have printed it both ways and I get the lines both ways.

What device are you printing to? The screenshot in #4 was a bit low

resolution and ends up looking like a scanned print from an old

fashioned dot matrix printer or some ink jet printer with a dirty head.

As I mentioned for the overlap, there was just talks about it. I dont

know if they even have a parameter for it, you gotta check the manual ,

or old postings yourself.

I opened your project in 6.5.4 and saw some lines on the pdf at some

scaling factors, but when zoomin in, they disappear. I guess this is

because of rounding errors in pdf viewer's scaler.

I also did try a print to pdf creator but end up with the same artifacts

when scaling. I suspect that Eagle prints to pdf in too low resolution

to cover the overlap, even if it appears to do 1200dpi.

PS:If you plan to print this onto transparent sheet for photoresist

transfer, I suggest you mirror it and lay the printed side toward the

pcb. This gives better focus. But I guess this is old tech these days.

'solid'. If you fail to do that and your layer setup does not have a

solid fillstyle then you can get the light and dark stripes.

I suppose this only prints non solid fillstyle lines as solid? This is

not about that.

1) The striations appear no matter what printer I am using. The striations also appear, if I print to pdf.

2) I am aware of the creed that I am responsible to do my own research. I have spent several hours digging through the internet and reading the manual. Since I could not find the answer, I asked for help, here. I was just hopeful that, if you thought you had seen the answer, you might remember where you saw it, or that you might be able to find it, if you looked, again. I don't know where you looked, so I can't go to those locations and look for myself... That is why I asked for you to give it another look.

Did you have this problem, yourself, and, then, learned that using the "solid" function was the cure. Or, do you just know that the "solid" function exists? I mean that as a genuine question... I don't mean to be brash... It just would help me to know where you are coming from.

I use solid fills for all planes. Eagle translates them as lines. Whether the solid function is on, or not, Eagle still renders solids as lines.

I tried printing your pdf to a printer, and there were no lines visible.

It was black and solid.

Maybe the lines on the pdf is a pdf viewer issue only?

I explained earlier a bit where I bumped into a similar issue.

To elaborate a bit, years ago, I was generating files for a high density

board, and the board house came back to me with a similar issue as you

describe. They didnt use pdf, but gerbers. Apparently their tool

(unknown) converted wire fills to polygon fills, and it was not able to

see this as a fill because of these lines.

Changing the gerber format from GERBER_RS274X to GERBER_RS274X_25 fixed

that problem back then, but I ended up writing my own gerber export ulp

because they wanted all pads flashed, but that is a different story.

Time for some clarity

v7.2.2

When I display your pdf I do not see lines

When I print your pdf I do not see lines.

When I open your board and print to pdf I do not get lines when I

display the pdf or when I print it.

So you have an issue I do not have, so something in your environment is

creating the issue for you.

Remember when you send a board file to someone, your layer settings do

not go with it. I see the board with my palette settings.

I then experimented to see what I had to do to get the type of lines you

report.The only way was to change the fill of a layer colour and print

without the Solid checkbox checked.

You say your fill lines are not overlapping fully. Please show us how it

looks on your computer with a screen shot of the polygon construction

key the following into the command line

SET FILL_LAYER 16 0; rats;

You should be able to inspect for no overlap which I don't think you

will see. If you do, take a screen shot of the failing area and post it

back here in the thread.

Then try

SET FILL_LAYER 16 2; rats;

Print to pdf, without 'solid' selected. I get striping but only on some

of the magnifications but importantly does happen at 100%

key the following to return it to solid fill for layer 16

SET FILL_LAYER 16 1; rats;
