So I've been scouring the internet for stuff to do with my new pi for about a week now and I've decided that what I need to do is get a small display with no audio, a compact laptop battery, and a compact keyboard. Then proceed to boot with out Xwindows in a text environment and use it along side my Linux class for practice, until I learn how to really use this sucker. So now I'm stuck because not only can I not find the perfect display I also have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to the electricity part for the display and pi all in one. I'm normally the google, then do, then ask questions when its broken type of person, but, I would prefer not to start anymore fires. The display I will eventually find how ever the voltage regulators and this and that's to make sure that the power going to the pi, display, and speakers is correct is where I'm stuck. Advice on any sites or places to learn minor electrical engineering preferably with video lectures would be awesome.
Also, a start on what some options are for a medium to small size display would be awesome. Big enough to fit some text on the screen but small enough to be easily transported in some sort of rudimentary wooden case that I'm going to have to build up as well.
I have some minor understanding of how things work an what would be needed in order to get it all to work and I am going to find the voltage requirements and such for the speakers I decide on and soon a quick sketch of what I believe the 'schematics' should look like.
Any example builds would be nice to see too. I looked at few but nothing all that close to what I'm shooting for which I didn't know quite where to put this in at but I'm sort of going for a text based netbook/tablet.
