What Are Your Nominations for Best RoadTest Reviews of 2023?

I often ask members at the end of the year about their choices for the best roadtest reviews of the year?

I'm sure there will be a difference of opinion concerning what I mean by "best:? I think it boils down to:

  • Interesting Technical Treatment
  • Well-Conceived Writing Plan
  • Fair, Objective Conclusions, Pro or Con.
  • A good learning experience for the reader of the review

I have a few that come to the top of my list. But, I wanted to see what you thought.

I have listed below ten reviews that I feel are great pieces of work. They mark all the checkbooks for a best review. They appeal to a range of members, from the maker through the professional engineer. And, more than anything, they are compelling pieces of work.

What do you think? Which of the reviews below are a best-in-class review for you? Or, do you have another choice? If so, please tell us. Leave a comment if you have the time.

I'd like to thank everyone for participating in element14's RoadTest Program.

  • I liked a lot from all these reviews.

    If I have to pick one, it will be Mike's, because his review made me want to purchase an ADALM2000 (I'm torn between that and Analog Discovery 2 or 3), since he dove right in with actual uses, demonstrated, and showed the results, which speak for themselves, showing the capabilities and output quality from the software.

    I'm not a fan of reviews that spend too long on the boring bits and sometimes tail off before getting to the interesting stuff, but I do appreciate getting an overview of what the product is about (easy to forget in a review, that not everyone will have a clue about the product when they are coming fresh to it, whereas the reviewer will be the expert on it).

    I also like microcontroller reviews (Jan's are top-quality - his RX23E review was the trigger for me to purchase the official Renesas RX debug tool) and I appreciate how hard those are to do, when using a new device, those reviews are invaluable to so many when done right.

  • There are some great road tests in this group. I can't vote for my own road test, but I liked most of them, including the road tests by  ,   ,   and  . To choose one is tough, but I will go with the Giga R1 by  .
