FPGA ZU3EG configuration without JTAG cable on Ultra96 board

jsobas
jsobas over 4 years ago

Hey everybody !

I have a Ultra96.V2 board and I don't have the Ultra96 JTAG/UART Pod to configure the FPGA.

It's the first time for me that I use an FPGA Zynq which mix PL and PS.

Anyone know how I can configure the FPGA without JTAG cable ? May be if I put the bitstream file in the SD card it's possible ?

If anyone can help me...WELCOME !!

I'm french, so I'm sorry for the spelling mistakes image

Have a good day

    Hi there,

It just so happens that the main repo has many boot options / instructions listed.

    https://github.com/Avnet/petalinux/tree/2020.1/documentation/ultra96

You might also do well working through some of our Technical Training Courses.  They were written for an older version of the tools, but the skills transfer.

    https://www.avnet.com/wps/portal/us/resources/training-and-events/event/ultra96-technical-training-courses/

You can also pickup on just about any of our reference designs.  Here are some generic links for you:

Avnet HDL git HOWTO (Vivado 2020.1 and earlier)

Using Avnet Build Scripts to Build a PetaLinux BSP (2019.2 and earlier)

Learning Vitis: 1 Setting up a Virtual Machine

Hope that helps jumpstart your learning!

    Hey Daniel,

    Thanks for your answer !

Finally I configure my FPGA with SD card through the following steps :

         1-Create a project on Vivado

2-"Export Hardware" from vivado to creat a .xsa file

3-Open Vitis IDE and import .xsa file

4-Create BOOT image in vitis with .bit partiton for the PL and .elf partition for PS

5-Copy and Paste the BOOT file in my sd CARD

    This is works good !
