Here are some pictures of the building of the drawing board

The motor housing

Motor are fixed to an L-shaped aluminum bar. The top cover of the motor has three screw holes. Using a sheet of paper, I noted down the positions of such holes and drilled down in the bar

I built an adapter to mate the 5-mm motor shaft to the threaded rod. This has been made from an aluminum cylinder and drilled.

On one side, the adapter has been internally threaded

The L-shaped bar will then be mounted on the top side of the drawing board

Cursor bar

The cursor moves along a 5 mm threaded rod. The diameter is identical to the diameter of the motor shaft, so that it has been easy to mate the motor and the threaded rod by means of the above-mentioned adapter. The threaded rods are housed in a U-shaped aluminum bar. The bar has a 10x10 mm section, so that a bolt can slide perfectly. At the top and at the bottom of the U-shaper bar, two M6 bolts keep the threaded rod in place. Internally, these bolts have a coating made with Teflon tape to reduce

At each end, two switches are installed. These switches are continuously monitored to stop motors when bar limits are reached

Hi Enrico what do you mean? Currently I have a Raspberry Pi that can send desired plotter position to the Freedom board. The control algorithm is probably performed directly by your own brain :-)

Hi Enrico I don't think it's possible to controls two motors. The freemaster motor control library performs very fast ADC reading to determine more for speed so I don't think there will be enough time…

Great pictures! This projects seems to be rolling along. Any difficulties?

    Hi Clem

yes, big diffculty that probably will make all my efforts useless: it's impossible to find a Freedom board and a motor

    Let's wait and see!
