ColdCase - Blog #7 - Final demo

For the sake of a fair competition, I tried to complete this challenge within two months since I received the challengers kit (which is hopefully the same amount of time all the other participants had available to build their project).

In any case, this is the final result of my efforts.

Unfortunately, the results are not as expected: I probably made a wrong estimation of the requirements for the Peltier cell, and I can lower the temperature inside the fridge only 8 degrees from external temperature. I probably need to mount a larger Peltier cell or to improve the insulation, but the available space does not allow me the increase the thickness of the foam that much.

Apart from that, as usual I had a lot of fun making this project. I already had some experience with MPLab and this helped me the make the Curiosity board up and running in a reasonable amount of time.

Source code for both the Curiosity board and the Android app is available on github (I will probably clean up the code in the next days, but the functionality is there)

Finally, I would like to thanks Element14 and Microchip for sponsoring this challenge.

Thanks for reading and see you soon!

Some say's saw-toothed current gives more temperature drop in peltier module. I don't know how much of that is true. Do you have any idea about it.
