2024 Summary of element 14 activity - DougW

This is my usual year end summary what I did on element 14 for the past year. I use these summaries as a handy chronological index of my content activities.

2024 was a lean year for Project14 with the departure of Tariq, but I compensated by doing design challenges and road tests.

Starting with badges - it is tough to recall when each badges was earned, but my badge total is currently sitting at 269 and current points total is at 934,250..

When 2024 kicked off I was still completing my Digilent Analog Discovery 3 Road Test

Early in the year I did a little video on chucks:

Next up I worked on the Upcycle Design Challenge which included a lot of things to do with an old PC such as Microchip Curiosity Nano system, a bench power supply, an ESP32 computer, a Commodore Vic20, a CP/M computer, an audio CD player, an external USB floppy disk drive, and a Running Man chip sculpture:

After that I worked on the Experimenting With Extreme Environments design challenge which involved 4 WiFi cameras in outdoor environments.

I did a blog on the Digilent Analog Discovery Pro prize I won for the extreme environments project:

I also won a prize for participating in an element14 scavenger hunt:

I then did a black box Halloween project that won a prize, but there is no blog about the prize since it has not arrived yet.

Currently I am working on the Start a Movement design challenge which includes a connector tester and thread tapping machines:

I am also working on 2 road tests - one on a Nordic nPM Fuel Gauge and one on a Vishay microBRICK® Synchronous Buck Regulator EVB. I have done some work, but have not published any blogs yet.

2024 was not the busiest year for projects for me although I did a few that were not published. 2025 will start quickly with the 3 projects I am already working on. We will see if that trend continues.

    My project list , and even online quizzes, are leaner for 2024. Besides Tariq's exit pausing E14 projects, I was provided with 2 more grandkids this year.  I enjoy projects, but enjoy grandkids even more  :-)
