in V6.0.0 manual routing got really hard

Check your catch factor and select factor settings, by default they

should be 5% and 2% respectively. Perhaps on a MAC this is different or

the OS interprets the values differently it may be worth playing with

them to get everything working nicely. Try 7% and 3% or maybe 8% and 4%.

It's not that - you can zoom in all you want, and virtually hover over the exact centre of the pad, and it won't "ping" to let you know it's connected.

It even happens if you route a wire into another wire - if the other wire is on the grid, it doesn't think you've finished, so you have to double-click to stop it carrying on.

I made a backup zip file of all my version 5 designs before even starting

version 6. If I want to go back, I can extract the necessary files and

restore them. No worries that something might get over-written or 'updated'

to xml.

I think there may be some other triggers for it (such as zooming) - and I'm sure I've had to click it twice in some occasions.

I also do manual routing (I don't trust autorouters), so I bought the professional version without autorouting. It certainly doesn't seem as nice to use as 5.11 did.

(I'm intending to write a review of it later on, when I've had a bit more of a play with it).

it didnt take me but 5 seconds to know its not right

I've literally just spotted that - and worked out how to get it working (was about to post a new message!)

Basically, if you move a component, then the manual routing for that component gets difficult - it doesn't snap the wire to the pad centre.

What you need to do is click on the "Ratsnest" icon - this resets the ends of the air wires.

Or, you can abort your manual route half-way through, and then restart it from where you left off.

I'm beginning to think that V6.0.0 is a bit of a step backwards - and certainly doesn't seem to warrant a major version number upgrade.
