Hi everyone!
I wanted to let you all know that recently our Video Subject Matter Expert Jason Moss has recently finished the first cut at the ported VCU TRD, for 2020.1!
He is currently working off of a branch from the official Avnet UltraZed-EV EVCC BSP, but those are coming soon as well!
What is the VCU TRD you might ask?
Straight from this Blog post:
UltraZed-EV VCU (Video Codec Unit) Design
"What is the VCU you might ask? This is an acronym that stands for Video Codec Unit. It is a piece of hardened IP that is included in the "EV" specific family of MPSoC devices from Xilinx.
It can do H.264/H.265 at 4K2K resolutions with a frame rate of 60FPS! All the while not using up your precious Programmable Logic fabric! As someone that has worked with some video codec HDL, I can certainly say that while resourcing is a challenge, the timing ends up so much more critical due to not only the data RATES but the data VOLUME!"
If you follow that link, you will see a slew of other links to videos and other posts related to the 2018.3 design running.
Look for my consolidation post that I usually put together, as well as locate the BSP download listed under the produce resources page:
Back to the regularly scheduled program!
**If you need access to the source code for the BSP, you can eventually locate that on the Avnet GitHub:
https://github.com/Avnet/hdl/tree/2020.1
https://github.com/Avnet/petalinux/tree/2020.1
As mentioned above, Jason's initial work was on a separate branch and his instructions reflect that. The instructions will be updated when this is official - until then, you can at least get a jump start on your design!
For access to the VCU TRD Port, you can head over to the Xterra2 server where you can find all versions (2018.3, 2019.2, 2020.1 as of this post):
https://xterra2.avnet.com/xilinx/zedboard/ultrazed-ev/vcu-trd-ports/rdf0428-uz7ev-vcu-trd-2020-1
As the design is updated, you will see that on Xterra2, downloadable binaries and all other materials will get updated! As of this post, you can download 2018.3 and 2019.2 pre-built binaries.
