Gift to Keep: Multicomp Tool Kit (~$500 value) plus a $400 Shopping Cart! Gift to Give: A $100 Shopping Cart! Gift to Keep: Tool Kit Bundle + $100 Shopping Cart! Gift to Give: A $100 Shopping Cart!

The generosity of our members is what makes the element14 community special.   This is the 5th year in a row where we've ended the year with a holiday contest and like the years that preceded it,  we included gifts to give other members.    The winners of the Build a Present contest will have the opportunity to choose from any of the projects that were submitted as part of contest and give a prize to someone that they felt was deserving and didn't win.   This contest had a lot of deserving projects so they will have the opportunity to award prizes to anyone who participated,  not just the runners up listed in this announcement.   We kicked off this contest with an Arduino and Raspberry Pi (mostly Arduino) giveaway and this helped produce Mini Uno Gold Winners: 16 Presents from the e14 Community for 16 Years of Arduino!   Every project listed there is a winner and deserving of a prize,  in this case, a limited edition Arduino Mini Uno!   Some of you have already received prizes such as Arduino UNO Mini Limited Edition comes home. and UnBoxing My Gold Uno Mini.   If you haven't received your prize yet.  Don't worry!   They are sitting in our Chicago office and I'll send them out as soon as I get the opportunity.   You can also reach me directly at tariq.ahmad.   Be sure to give me an address to ship it to if we do not already have your address.

This contest was all about building a present that spreads joy to others.   The grand prize went to the project that showed the most heart.  What could show more heart than a robot in the shape of a heart? That's exactly what ntewinkel did with Lolly the LoveBot and he is your grand prize winner.   The first place winners also showed a lot of heart.   Who doesn't like a robot Santa version of bender?   Who doesn't like a flower pot present for their cat?   That's exactly what fmilburngave us when he rehabilitated make robot friend. Bender and brought him back to the future to help us close out 2021!  His anger limiting module has been updated and his naughty/nice detector recalibrated into a more normal range.   The next project he worked on was a gift for his daughter who likes cats.   She asked him for a 3D printed flower pot in the shape of a cat!   The next winner also had a gift for family in mind.   It was influenced by balearicdynamicsand his The Smart Road of Jan the Van and could have easily been a winner in our recently closed Auto Hacks contest.   aspork42who decided to blog about a custom Camper Van conversion that he built as a present for his father.  His post is broken down by each section of the vehicle with details of the build process.   The final build a present winner was a gift to the entire element14 community.  Its said that chess improves cognitive skills (such as concentration, pattern recognition, decision making, algebraic and geometric thinking, problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and critical thinking).   It also improves self-confidence and self-worth while increasing attention span and  memory capacity.  What better gift to an entire community of engineers and electronics enthusiasts than a chess clock using an Arduino UNO R3 microcontroller and a TFT LCD touch screen.

Without further ado,  here are your winners and the runner ups...

Tell Lolly to watch out.  Robot Santa and Bender are both bad news :-)
