About Project14
 Directions

Every month you'll have a new poll where you'll get to decide an upcoming project competition, based on your interests, that will take place a couple of months in advance. Themes are broad in scope so that everyone can participate regardless of skill set.

 

What are Monthly Themes?

  • Every month (around the 14th of each month) a new theme will be posted on Project14.
  • Submit your ideas (proposals) for your projects to get feedback from the rest of the community.
  • Submit a project entry in the Theme space once you start working on it.

 

What are Monthly Theme Polls?

  • Every month (around the 14th of each month) there is a project theme poll.
  • Vote on which project competition you want to see for the following upcoming theme.
    • The themes voted on during the previous poll decided the upcoming theme.
    • If you submit an idea for a theme that is not used then it can still be used in a future poll.
  • Themes comments and ideas from the comments section of the project theme poll.

  • One thing I have been wanting to do for a long time is to make a number of simple circuits that use opamps and that can be used when we talk about modulations at school. Eg:

    • a high frequency oscillator (even 1 MHz would be enough) to generate the carrier signal,
    • an AM modulator;
    • an FM modulator;
    • an ASK modulator;
    • an FSK modulator;
    • a PWM modulator.

    Having these simple circuits would be great for getting a better understanding of the concept of modulation.

  • I am even looking for MCP6007-E/MS and MCP6292-E/MS as well for building comb generator. I have comb generator as a requirement for my future projects 

  • I want to build a comb generator using ISL28291FBZ and test it for various types amplifier , attenuater and filter

  • I have an op-amp project in the works, actually it has been in the works for years, but it still isn't good enough for me.

    I have been designing electronic drum pads using piezo sensors. I have built several iterations of drum pad, signal conditioning circuit and software, but every time I make a system, I decide it needs to be better. Every time I sit down to design the next generation, I come up with a bunch of new ideas. Then I start collecting parts to build, then I sit down to do a more detailed design and often decide to completely change the design. I have built a few designs even though I have this never ending redesign cycle going on. One of the tricky areas for me is to capture the amplitude of the drum strike with low latency. I don't want a noticeable delay from when I strike to when the note gets played. Op-amps are used to condition the signal - get the amplitude to something appropriate for an A/D, do a sample-and-hold, and trigger an A/D sample. I have all the piezo sensors and a bunch of other stuff and it will eventually become a MIDI drum set.
