The theme RF (Radio Frequency) competition involved projects that involved or explored RF including circuits, antennas, SDR (Software Defined Radio), ham radio, modulation/demodulation, RADAR (acronym for Radio Detection And Ranging), and more! Projects involving RF are broad in scope and could include robots, data acquisition projects, data transfer, automation, remote control, wireless sensor networks, cellular IoT, health, object detection, and more! It was great to see some outstanding project contributions from some of longtime members such as Gough Lui , kmikemoo , and gecoz. As well as a couple of really great projects from eivholt who did some great projects involving LoRaWAN. Also, shabaz who was a strong contender for the Grand Prize with his PlanetCatcher: Building a World-Band Radio Receiver chose to submit his prize as a gift rather than an entry. Instead he helped out with the judging and will be the first person of the new year to receive a Heart Trophy for showing heart. The first place winners of this competition were all worthy winners as was any of the members listed as runner ups. The three first place winners will have a chance to gift those members with a Raspberry Pi 3 Kit in a box.

There's always stuff going on in the community and the best ideas always come from you. Suggest your idea in the Monthly Poll, and vote on the themes you want to do projects on. Build projects projects that involve infrasound, audible sound, ultrasound, amplifiers, piezoelectric material, spectrum analyzers, and more in the Acoustics competition. Your project can be anything involving sound or using a transducer for converting one form of energy into another. In an electroacoustic context, a transducer converts sound energy into electrical energy (or vice versa). Your project can involve electroacoustic transducers that convert a sound wave to some form of electric signal such as loudspeakers, microphones, particle velocity sensors, hydrophones and sonar projectors. The most widely used transduction principles are electromagnetism, electrostatics and piezoelectricity.
