What Is Your Favorite Roadtest of 2023?

rscasny
rscasny over 1 year ago

At the end of the year, I like to reflect on what products have been roadtested in the past 12 months. I usually ask for community member input. Hence, this poll.

Given all the roadtests we have done, it may be a challenge to pin it down to one favorite one. But give it a try. Ask yourself, which one really stands out for you? Or, which one after seeing the roadtest made you want to have it.

If you need to, feel free to leave a more detailed comment. Thanks.

Here are links to the roadtests for your convenience:

I am predisposed to like the products I review because the reason I apply for a road test is that I already like and want the product. So I liked the Multicomp Pro MP750511 Arbitrary Waveform Generator…

I voted for the piece of gear I liked best not the road test review I liked best (which was for a piece of gear I thought overpriced and underperforming !). So the thing I liked was the Aim TTi SMU …

For some time I have been looking for and appreciating tools, so Weller platform (I can't even believe how expensive something like this is Dizzy face).

Just checked - It has the highest number of applicants and ADI Low Power RTC has the lowest number of applicants.

IIRC it was suggested at some stage that picoamperometer is needed for RTC testing - that could be the cause of low applicant number...

pico amper meter was not needed since consumption is in range of tens of nano amps and you can test RTC differently. Power consumption test is not needed.

In my opinion it is because RTC chips are boring in general. They do not blink, move, beep and they are not programable.

ok, my bad - it is in the datasheet, under "required equipment", not in the roadtest page (I have remembered it wrong):

    • One pico ammeter for measuring the current

I personally think that clocks in general are fascinating - they can be running early, late, they can generate frequency jitter and/or wander - but this is not something that can be easily measured using hobbyist equipment (my thesis was about synchronization of network equipment - but purely theoretical, unfortunately)
